On my daily quest searching for goodies and footie I stumbled across Matthieu Bessudo AKA MCBESS. Guitarist in The Dead Pirates, 3D annimation king, and one of the best illustrators I have ever seen; McBess is the real deal. There’s something about black ink on a white surface that tickles my fancy; it could be the positive and negative shapes fighting for attention, or it may be the simplicity of only two colors creating imagery. Whatever it is Mc Bess has it mastered. His illustrations keep your eyes constantly moving and searching around for more hidden gems- you think you have seen it all then something wild comes into focus. They give off a dark and twisted yet playful feeling– Mc Bess is clearly one with the dark side. Just by looking at the picture above you can see he uses himself as a main subject.
His 3D animations (usually set to a song from his band The Dead Pirates) are PRIMO. Using his unique drawing style he brings his funky characters to life. Mc Bess’ creatures move and rock out better than any creepy long armed junkie. He’s made several music videos including “Wood (Dirty Melody)” that have turned heads in the motion graphics industry. Featured in Juxtapoz, Hi–Fructose, Wired, and Motiongrapher should tell you to keep your eyes open for his work. Here’s a few clips of the man and his creations.
