Let’s Get Lost: The Timeless Talent of Chet Baker

I don’t always listen to jazz, but when I do, I often listen to Chet Baker.  His style is effortlessly cool, he’s extremely smooth on the horn, and the fact that he lived a fast, drug-addicted, and self-destructive lifestyle for most of his adult life makes him all the more interesting.  Bruce Weber, acclaimed photographer and filmmaker, came out with an outstanding documentary about the legendary Mr. Baker in 1988 entitled Let’s Get Lost that is really worth watching if you have any interest in the man.  The stories about his passion for women, cars, and drugs, manipulating his way out of military service by feigning insanity, and learning how to play his trumpet with dentures because he got his teeth knocked out are intriguing enough for me go back multiple times over the years.  Check out this full-length documentary below.

Tobaccy Roses: The Bedroom Tapes

Here at MindTai we are proud to bring you an exclusive release from Tobaccy Roses. Remember when music was still roots and sound vibrations came from an instrument and not a electronic box? This is the very essence Tobaccy Roses brings to the table. The Bedroom Tapes  are a batch of homemade instrumentals put together by two legends with a couple of guitars, a bottle of whisky, and hearts of gold. Sit back and let the sweet sounds of Tobaccy Roses serenade you in the warm sun with a cool beverage. This very act will lead you to remember how amazingly good this life can get. Cheers!

New No.7

To be responsible to the brand, we (Nathan Hinz, Cue design) needed to approach the redesign with an eye toward the future, while carefully considering 140 years of equity and history.

Jack believed that a unique product deserved unique presentation, so he chose to sell his whiskey in a square bottle with a fluted neck. True to the original, the new bottle has distinctly chiseled, masculine features – a square footprint, square shoulders and beveled corners.

The iconic Jack Daniel’s label stands for uncompromising quality and craftsmanship. The new label maintains a balance of filigree, iconography, and special typographic elements, in black and white with a touch of silver.
