So here’s the story: Le Voyage dans la lune (A Trip to the Moon) is an extremely creative silent film from 1902. It was shot in black-and-white by French filmmaker Georges Méliès and used the most innovative special effects of the day. In 1993, a rare hand-colored print was rediscovered and has been through a very thorough restoration process. This restored colored version is now making the rounds at film festivals and features an original sound track from the French duo Air. The film is only about 15 minutes long, but Air was inspired enough by the project that they will soon release a full-length album spurred from their work. Check this shit out!
